Fuel Tank Positioning
The SSCA wish to clarify the situation with regard to the positioning of fuel tanks which arose from racing last weekend.
The SSCA fully accept that there was a difference in wording from the last confirmed rule changes letter and the final printed 2010 rules, and that differences in car construction make it hard to have a position that suits all.
As a result the SSCA wish to implement the following:
The fuel tank must be on the centreline of the car (front to back)
The fuel tank must be no further forward than the rear of the driver's seat
If you have moved your fuel tank into the centreline of the car, but if it is over the diff or to the rear of the diff, and you are content that the tank is sufficiently protected then this will be acceptable. If this is the case, then you are not expected to move your tank once again.
However, if in the opinion of the SSCA Technical Officer, Neil Hurst, common sense has not been used, and the tank is too near the rear bumper or not sufficiently protected you will be asked to move it.
