2018 National Points Championship

The SSCA are delighted to announce that for 2018 the National Points Championship will be revamped and the winner and wearer of the Silver Roof in 2019 will be decided by a National Series similar to that used by the BriSCA Formulae.

At a recent meeting between promoter and driver members of the SSCA there was a lot of enthusiasm from the driver attendees for a series of this nature to create an exciting Race For The Silver Roof.

The SSCA are delighted to announce a prize fund exceeding £7000 for this initiative. To help drivers with costs, all National Series contenders will receive £60 attendance money per National Series round provided they compete in all of them. Including Start Monies, the 2018 National Points Champion will pick up an impressive prize purse exceeding £1600!

The Series will be open to ten drivers who are happy to commit (barring unforeseen circumstances) to all of the qualifying rounds.

Drivers will qualify for the opportunity to commit in the series by winning a championship in 2018 or performing well in the grading points chart.

The following champions will be invited to compete in the series;

World Champion
British Champion
European Champion
National Champion
UK Champion
English Champion
Scottish Champion

In addition the top three drivers in the grading points as of 1 September will get a passport to compete in this exciting series.

In the event of double qualification or any qualifier being unable to commit to the series, the remaining places will be filled by going further down the Grading Points.

The series will take place over six rounds – 4 on tarmac and 2 on shale. Normal National Points will be scored at these meetings. The final round at Ipswich will score double points and to help redress the balance between scoring opportunities on tarmac and shale, the rounds at King’s Lynn and Mildenhall will also score double points.

The rounds for the 2018 series are as follows;

King’s Lynn – Sat 22 September
Taunton – Sat 29 September
Mildenhall – Sat 13 October
Skegness – Sun 14 October
Cowdenbeath – Sun 28 October
Ipswich – Sat 3 November – Finale

The champions grade will be suspended for the NS round and replaced with a National Points “Superstar” grade. All drivers in the National Series will need to have flashing lights for these dates and this grade will be gridded in reverse points order.

The SSCA are looking for 10 partners to help support the series and are able to offer some great advertising and publicity opportunities to. It will cost £300 to become a partner of the Saloon Stock Car National Points and anyone interested in doing this should contact the SSCA secretary Marion Farrow on 01472 813969.
