Tyre Softener

The SSCA have agreed to maintain the 2009 rules on tyre softener and slick tyres until 1 June 2010. Therefore, as per the 2009 rules tyre softener will be permitted, but all tyres when checked at any time must not have a durometer reading below 44 as this will lead to instant exclusion from the results and possible Board of Control action. Two Avon 7.3 slick type tyres may be used on a race car for any race THIS INCLUDES THE CHAMPIONSHIP EVENTS.

However, the SSCA will not permit the use of slick tyres after 1 June 2010, and will advise on the use of tyre softener.  This has been done, to allow enough time to gather data on tyre readings and feedback from all parties, whilst recognising that drivers need chances to use up their current supply of Avon slick tyres.
